August '09 Prawning Master

It started at 1.15 in the afternoon on the 16th of August 2009. The blazing sun created unbearable heat waves. There were 7 anglers catching prawns. Through the mass perspiring bodies in Bandar Sri Damansara, came a lad, walking jovial and light hearted. He came in and moved about. Changed up to 3 spots. Fidgety we thought. So we watched closely as he cast out and confidently awaited with an uncanny smirk on his face. Soon enough we couldn't believe our eyes. He couldn't seem to keep the prawns off his line and hook, one after another he fought and caught.

Mr Michael Ong, on behalf of The Mangrove, we congratulate you for being August '09 Prawning Master with 31 prawns in ONE hour. You're born a champion.

Monthly Prawning Master

The Mangrove believes in appreciating pure fishing skills. Catch by size could be simply the act of mere luck, therefore, the highest number of catch is awarded here in The Mangrove. No extra charge is applied. Winner will be awarded the title Monthly Prawning Master and get RM100 plus 5 hours free prawning at The Mangrove. 1 winner per month and a grand tournament for all monthly winners will be conducted at no extra charge every anniversary to get the year's Best Prawning Master.

Merdeka Bonus

Commemorating the nation’s 52nd birthday with the theme ‘1 Malaysia, People First, Performance Now’, The Mangrove hosted a Merdeka countdown bonus. The Mangrove was filled with fun and laughter not to forget en masse joyous screams of encouragement and shared happiness from fellow prawn anglers as and when any angler caught a prawn.

The rules were set simple. Should any angler caught a prawn with golden necklace, would qualify himself into a lucky draw where each balls inside the lucky ball box has different prizes to be won.

The Mangrove

man·grove (mān'grōv', māng'-)
n.
Any of several tropical evergreen trees or shrubs of the genus Rhizophora, having stiltlike roots and stems and forming dense thickets along tidal shores.
Any of various similar shrubs or trees, especially of the genus Avicennia.

Tiger Prawns and White-leg Shrimps (both Prawns) mature and breed only in a marine habitat. In the wild, the developing young migrate into large areas of THE MANGROVE swamps in estuaries where they feed in the nutrient-rich water. As they approach adulthood they migrate back into the sea to complete the cycle.

The Mangrove is the HOME for Prawns...
